The topic of positive thinking is familiar to everyone. They write articles about this, conduct webinars, invite to marathons and training courses. Today I would like to talk about how positive attitude and positive thoughts are related to training, sports and human health in general. Have you ever thought that success only comes to positive people? They always believe in the best and don’t get very upset about failure.
Positive people see opportunities and make the most of them. Almost every successful person finds time for sports every day. It can be running, fitness or trivial exercise, but physical activity is an integral part of their life. Sport is useful not only for the body, but also for the mind, as it increases energy and gives inspiration, allows you to relieve the central nervous system, improves mood, and therefore the general condition of the body.
During sports, the brain produces the so-called happiness hormones — endorphins, serotonin and dopamine.
Endorphins make our life more fun, more joyful, keep us in high spirits. With a sufficient amount of endorphins, the state of anxiety goes away, stress decreases, pain dulls, blood pressure is regulated, and mental activity is accelerated. Endorphins help fight depression, relieve chronic fatigue, improve mood and simply prevent the brain from focusing on the negative. in addition, endorphins help develop exercise habits. I want to overcome myself again and again and receive encouragement from the brain.
Serotonin is responsible for good mood and emotional stability. He does not give the opportunity to mope and «jump» our mood. With adequate production of serotonin, thinking and mental abilities are improved. The hormone regulates muscle activity. In addition, he encourages the joy of those who practice regularly. After a long break, the stimulation decreases — it becomes difficult to get off the couch. But if you make a little effort on yourself, then the positive attitude will return very quickly.
Dopamine is produced as a «reward» for the performed action — we feel a surge of energy, we feel a sense of satisfaction from what we have done. Therefore, dopamine is usually associated with motivation, since it is this hormone that pushes us to accomplishments, feats, and new interesting things. When dopamine is lowered, we are drawn to easy ways to restore dopamine levels, such as a bucket of ice cream or a box of chocolates. Regular exercise keeps dopamine levels normal, so it can help reduce the cravings for the habits we dream of getting rid of.
All three types of hormones are interrelated. All give a state of happiness, joy, pleasure and stand out during sports! Today, unfortunately, there are quite a few negative factors affecting our emotional state. It is enough to turn on the TV and watch the news. The pandemic problem has swept the whole world and it is quite difficult not to worry in this situation to remain absolutely calm in this situation, without giving it any special significance.
It’s at times like these that regular exercise will help you and your body.
Many of those who regularly worked in sports clubs continue their studies at home in the same way. If you are new to this business, then try to find for yourself exactly the option of physical activity that suits you and you like the most, especially since the choice is huge today: yoga, running, Pilates, and regular physical education. Which one you prefer — it doesn’t matter, the main thing is that you do it! Find what you really want and enjoy doing. Turn your workout time into an outlet, not a forced exercise.
It also happens that a person does not want to do anything at all. In such a situation, you need to try to overpower yourself, but then be sure to reward. For example, after a run, take a bubble bath, if you like it, or lie on a soft sofa under your favorite movie, or enjoy fragrant tea while reading an interesting book. That is, to motivate yourself with a pleasant pastime for performing certain duties. When such a ritual occurs systematically, then every time it becomes easier for the body and eventually sports will become an integral part of your life.
It is equally important that classes take place at approximately the same time. Then the body will get used to the new regime much faster. In the end, you do not have to persuade yourself and force yourself to study. Soon you will catch yourself thinking that you are already missing something, since the body itself will already require physical activity from you.
By my own example, I can say that the greatest stimulus and motivation is obtained when, looking in the mirror, the eyes begin to shine, and a smile arises by itself. With regular exercise, the result will be noticeable quickly enough and then you will not have to persuade yourself to study. The brain will simply give a signal, and the endorphins will do their job. Go in for sports and be healthy!
